Necessity of Antibiotic usage after Simple Tooth Extraction in Patient with Healthy Systemic Condition in Herat, Afghanistan

Background/Purpose: Over-intake of antibiotics like amoxicillin, penicillin, ceftriaxone, gentamycin, ampiclox, metronidazole and last but not least, tetracycline is a practical hazard in aid-supported settings such as Afghanistan where only one can get access to them easily, also they are generously being prescribed without consideration for necessity or side effects. Prescribing after simple tooth extraction has remained questionable topic dental academia, especially the third world countries. Among procedures, most common procedure prescription antibiotics. This study aimed determine using people with normal systemic condition establish its role reducing pain discomfort, swelling, dry socket. Materials Methods: double-blinded RCT was performed two surgeries; Erfan Specialized Dental Clinic Mena Oral Care Centre. In all 237 patients, selected systematically, randomized, following same protocols materials before extraction. Two types prescriptions (one antibiotics) were prepared box. After participants asked pick by chance. All data collected analyzed SPSS-25 program. Results: 76.37% female 23.63% male. Regarding reasons that led extraction, 43.04% teeth extracted due profound caries, making it reason followed periodontitis 14.77% root remnants 10.55%.
